Jianpu, or Numbered Music Notation, has been used by millions of people in the far east since the beginning of the 20th century.
With a personal computer running Microsoft Word, it is possible for an average person to create a jianpu document that can be saved, edited, printed, and shared. To enable such creations, a special music font and input method is needed and the absolutely FREE package "SimpErhu" was published in February 2008 just for that purpose.
